Talents are potentials and abilities deposited in man by God from creation. They are those natural endowment God placed in man to enable him fulfill his God given assignment here on earth.
Another world for talent is "gift" hence they are often used interchangeable. But for the purpose of consistency i shall maintain the use of "talent" throughout. God has inbuilt great talents in every individual.
But these talents are like hidden treasures beneath the earth surface, thus they must be discovered, developed and maximized.
