Sleep Deprivation

When consciousness is slipping and it doesn't matter what's covering you. You could be reading a book, watching a movie, or running a marathon. You could be one call away from the biggest score of your life. It doesn't matter. The dream manifests and you start pulling away. A simple thought becomes reality, your subconscious bubbles up, as pleasant as meeting an old friend. You're falling. Either your mainframe shocks you or you succumb. You're pulled from a smoking wreckage after the dream became a black concussion, a paper-thin divide separating the nightmares from fantasies. Then you wake up.
