Street art - Nicosia (Cyprus)

Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, is as divided as the rest of the country. The Greek-speaking Lefkosía in the south and the Turkish-speaking Lefkoşa in the north. Cyprus and the European Union here, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and thus Turkish administration there. Or (Orthodox) Christianity on the one hand, Islam on the other.

But there is one thing that both parts of Nicosia have in common - in addition to their shared history and the associated challenges. And this is an interesting collection of street art works. From small, barely perceptible paintings to gigantic mammoth pictures filling entire walls, everything is there. I went on a cross-border voyage of discovery from Lefkosía to Lefkoşa and captured some particularly beautiful examples for you.

Please feel invited to comment. I would be happy for any feedback as this is my first post on steemit. If you are interested in more street art pictures please go to benanza.de/streetart.
