My Grand-Puppy Charlie-Part Two

Christina began dating a wonderful man named, "Jay." For their first date, Jay asked her if she would like to go hiking. "Sure, as long as I am home by 5:00 P.M. to feed Charlie," she replied. Jay didn't know that she had a dog, and was happy to hear about Charlie. As luck would have it, Jay loves dogs too. Jay picked Christina up at 7:00 A.M. for their first date. He felt bad about keeping her away from Charlie all day, and he felt bad for Charlie, because he was going to be left alone for such a long time. Jay arrived, he met Charlie, and gave him a present; a brand new toy. What a sweet gesture! They had a great time hiking, and got back to Christina's house at 4:00 P.M. Jay didn't want to be in the "dog house" for their first date, if he didn't get her home by 5:00 P.M., so he made sure to get her home early. After dinner, they took Charlie outside and played with him for a couple of hours. By the time Jay left that evening, he and Charlie were best buddies.

Every Christmas, Christina has cards made, with pictures of Charlie on them. She and Jay wrapped Christmas lights around Charlie, and that is the picture she used for the 2013 Christmas cards. On December 28, 2013, Jay took Christina out for dinner. As they were driving to their destination that evening, Christina saw a sign, all lit up, with a picture of Charlie. It was raining and it was difficult for her to see it. "Look Jay! There is a big sign that has Charlie's picture on it...what? Why?" So they pulled over the side of the road, and got out of the car to look at it. Jay's secret plan and surprise was about to be revealed. Christina could see that it was definitely a picture of Charlie. It was the one with him wrapped in Christmas lights. Then she read the words, "I Hope She Says Yes." Jay got down on one knee and proposed. Five months later, on May 3, 2014, Christina and Jay were married.

Charlie is eight years old now. And Christina and Jay added a new member to their family on January 22, 2016; a beautiful, healthy, precious, baby girl named, "Ella." Charlie is protective of his new sibling, and Ella loves him dearly. She gives him hugs, and kisses his forehead; every chance she gets.

I often wonder if Ella will be like me; having pets all of her life; since the day she was born.
