It was Friday, the day before Halloween and Ellie still hadn't gotten a costume. She was really worried that she wouldn't be able to dress up and go to a Halloween party with her friends. Her mom told her that she could always make her own. She talked to her friends at school that day and came up with the perfect idea. She decided that she was going to be a nurse.
Her mom used to be a nurse, so she had everything she needed for her costume. She got home after school and saw that her mom was in the kitchen on her computer.
"Hey mom! I decided what I'm going to do for my costume." said Ellie.
"Oh yeah, and what's that gonna be?" asked Lilah, her mom.
"A nurse!" Ellie said with excitement.
"Well that's a great idea!" said Lilah, "All my old nurse outfits and equipment are in boxes in the garage."
"Thanks mom, love you!" Said Ellie.
"Love you too hun" Said Lilah.
Ellie rushed to the garage to find the boxes. Thankfully, her mom had the boxes labeled and they were on a shelf, so she found them easily. She found two different outfits. One was pink and the other was red and black. She made her decision quickly.
"Well it's Halloween, obviously going to wear the red and black!" she said to herself. She continued looking through the boxes and found a black stethoscope and some comfortable shoes her mom used to wear to work. "Thank goodness we wear the same size of shoe!" she said to herself. She gathered everything up and went back inside. Her mom was still in the kitchen when she went back inside.
"Found everything I need, at least I think I did anyways," Ellie said to her mom.
"Good thing we wear the same size isn't it?" Said Lilah.
"Yes! I found the red and black outfit and figured it would be perfect for Halloween" said Ellie.
"You're right, that is a great idea! So you got the outfit, the stethoscope, and the comfortable shoes?" asked Lilah.
"Yes, am I missing anything?" asked Ellie.
"Well you could always carry a thermometer too" said Lilah.
"Great idea!" yelled Ellie as she ran upstairs.
Ellie ran to her bathroom and started looking for the thermometer. She checked the medicine cabinet, not there. So she checked the drawers and she finally found it. She went back downstairs and her dad was coming in through the front door. She ran up to him to give him a hug.
"Hey dad! I finally figured out what I'm going to be for Halloween." Said Ellie excitedly.
"Awesome, what did you decide on?" asked Jason, her dad.
"A nurse!" said Ellie, "I found everything I needed in moms old stuff"
"That's cool, bet you'll look great and have a lot of fun" said Jason.
"Thanks dad," said Ellie, "but...what's for dinner mom?"
"Porkchops, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread, and sweet tea" Said Lilah.
"Yummy," said Ellie, "I'm going to go to my room and talk to Maggie, see you at dinner."
Ellie ran back upstairs to her bedroom and shut the door. She jumped onto her bed and started calling Maggie. Maggie has been her best friend since kindergarten. They are going to another friends Halloween party tomorrow night. She was so excited to tell Maggie that she had everything she needed for her costume.
"Hey girl!" Said Maggie answering the phone.
"Hello!" Said Ellie.
"Did you tell your parents about what you wanted to do for your costume?" asked Maggie.
"Yes, and my mom had everything I needed!" Said Ellie excitedly.
"Yay!" Screeched Maggie, "I'm so excited for tomorrow!"
"Me too! But where is the party at again?" asked Ellie.
"It's at Mandy's lake house" Said Maggie.
"Oooh, okay." Said Ellie.
"That was my response, sounds scary. Perfect for Halloween though!" said Maggie.
"For sure!" Said Ellie.
"Time for dinner Ellie!" yelled Lilah.
"Okay!" yelled Ellie.
"I have to go, dinner time. Talk to you later." said Ellie.
"Okay, bye!" said Maggie.
Ellie went downstairs for dinner. She sat down at the table and started to eat with her parents. They talked about her day at school and the party. Ellie is so excited to go tomorrow night. As soon as they finished, Ellie went upstairs to work on some homework before she went to bed.
Ellie only had to write a short essay for English, so she was done quickly. She started to text Maggie and Mandy in a group chat.
'Hey girls!' said Ellie
'Hey!' Said Maggie and Mandy.
'I'm so excited for tomorrow!' Said Ellie.
'Me too, there will be a bunch of people there' said Mandy, 'My parents will be there but will be staying upstairs'
'Well that's cool,' said Maggie.
'Nice!' Said Ellie.
'Well girls I'm going to bed now,' said Mandy.
'Me too' Said Maggie.
'Me three' Said Ellie.
'Goodnight' they all said.
