The small dragon who loved flowers (story)

He opened his round eyes. Eyes wide open, he looked around. Something had changed. The air smelled different. It was a nice smell. The sky was now a light blue. The ground smelled of fresh rain. Birds were flying around and chirping happily. He looked at his nest. The others were still sleeping. The mother dragon had flown off to search for food.

The baby dragon looked at his wings. They were still small and dark green. He tried to breathe out heavily, wondering if fire would come out but it didn't. Maybe, it would come only after he had grown big enough. He smelled again and this time, he wanted to know where it came from. He peeped out of the nest which was way up on a tree. Not even the eagles would dare come near.

He could see a lot of flowers on the ground. They were so big and beautiful. He wanted to go near it and smell them but of course, he could not fly, and climbing down was risking his own life. His mother had warned all of them never to wander alone until they could fly properly.

The baby dragon was sad. He kept looking at the flowers and tried to breathe in as much as he could. The others had woken up by now and saw him. He showed them the flowers; they liked and smelled the sight. The mother returned soon and they had a feast that day. It was Fruit Friday. The fruits that their mommy had bought were delicious. He told her about the flowers and she smiled and said the fruits were from the same plants. He was delighted and jumped in glee. She also told him that she did not pluck the flowers because they would soon produce these delicious fruits for him. He hugged her and they sat enjoying the view.
