My Five Japanese Beauties...

A look at the cars I currently own..

A 1993 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R with only 86,000km, I imported this car back in 2013 from Kobe, Japan.

It was standard, except for the kakimoto exhaust. Since arrival I've done quite a few supporting modifications and managed 404hp at 1 Bar boost on the stock twin turbos. Not bad considering. I do have single turbo plans for the future.

This RX7 FD was my second ever import, a funny story actually. I never meant to buy this car. I was playing the Japanese car auctions in August of 2016 and had a limit of around $6000 for the car(Excluding shipping, customs duties and tax) and unfortunately I was still very green to the system. I kept bidding on cars that would sell for double and sometimes triple the value I had in mind.

This went on for a few weeks, I started to get despondent and I still remember the night like it was yesterday. My daughter was born in September of 2016 and she was keeping us up at night, while feeding her I logged onto the auctions and bidded on every RX7 FD for sale that week as I figured I'd never win one anyway.

The following morning I received a phone call from my broker in Japan congratulating me on my 1997 RX7 FD Touring X. I was in complete and utter shock. I had learnt that I won the car for $1995. It was definitely not what I wanted as it was an automatic model with 150,000km and heavy interior wear and tear. It is what it is, I still own it and don't regret it anymore!

Once the black FD arrived and I finally got to drive it, I realised that it wasn't that much fun driving an automatic and not having control of gearing and RPM. This is when I figured I'd bite the bullet and import myself a mint RX7.

I landed up winning a completely standard 1997 Mazda RX7 FD3S Type RS model in February of 2017. These have slightly better turbos, better vacuum lines, much bigger brakes, harder suspension, weighs slightly less than the standard model and a few other small things that I've already forgotten about.

Unfortunately for me when the car arrived it wasn't able to drive and I was not even able to rev it, I spend 2 weeks troubleshooting and it turned out to be a faulty ECU. I've subsequently bought an Apexi Power FC with a hand controller. I also picked up a 76mm downpipe, Apexi Intakes, HKS exhaust, HEL braided brake hoses, purple radiator hoses(I'm doing a black and purple engine bay) and a host of gauges. I'm not sure what the next plans are but I can surely tell you it's going to be awesome!

This was my most recent purchase, I picked up this 1991 Toyota MR2 SW20. This was an impulse buy to be honest. I saw it for sale on a local site, it was imported into the country 10 years ago by the previous owner as a delegates car. Now some of you may not know but the laws here in South Africa we aren't allowed to import any car. There is a collector's list which has a few vintage, veteran and classic cars. On that same list there are GTR's, NSX, RX7's etc but no MR2's! If you are a delegate and bought a car overseas you were able to import it. That's how this MR2 landed up getting registered here.

Now you understand why I say it was an impulse buy! It's not in the greatest of conditions but I am definitely planning on sorting it out. The front end needs a respray and the interior could use a bit of cleaning up. Other than that it's in really good driving condition.

My plan for this car is to buy era specific parts, I want to know what it felt like to drive this car modified back in the 90s. So I've started picking up 90s Apexi and HKS parts to modify it as if I was doing it in the 90s.

Ah, my daily driver.. Not many people like the looks of this, I must say I didn't either initially but it's grown on me.

This is my Nissan Juke Midnight Edition 1.6 Turbo, great daily driver and enough power to keep me satisfied with 140kw and 240nm.

Let me know what you think and which of these are your favourites? Also what would you like to see done to my cars?
