Thoughts and emotions!!

Someone the other day said that emotions and thoughts are two separate things. I disagree! You're thoughts create the emotions that come with it. Emotions are not secondary nor are they instead of but one and the same.
Imagine this, you're in the car stuck in traffic on a record high, hot summer day. Traffic creeps an inch every 5 minutes. All of the sudden the air conditioner stops working. A song comes on the radio that reminds you of a very sad, confusing time in your life. What do you do?
Most people let irritation, anger and sadness creep in. It doesn't just happen. It is a very controllable situation as far as how it affects you. Emotion comes with your perception of a situation. When we master how to control our thoughts the outcome of how we feel (emotion) is quite different. Now imagine that the heat makes you think of the exact opposite of comfort, the hopeless waiting makes you feel impatient, the song makes you remember the failure and sadness from a moment in time that is long gone. What if....
Instead of all of that silly mess inside your head the gridlock reminds you to slow down, the heat reminds you that you're still alive. The song is just a song. Change the damn radio if it makes you feel less than absolutely wonderful. Honestly, the power is in your fingertips on that one.
If we get committed to clearing our minds of negativity and changing our thought patterns to match the emotions we WANT in our lives the world would be a happier place. One and the same dear friends. Remember you determine whether life is a living hell or not with the thoughts that you allow to create emotions in your life.
