Science Fiction books that have accurately predicted the present

So, what novels, or series, are out now or within a recent time period could (impossible to say will) accurately look into the future of humanity, that our race can look back on in 40-70 years time with the same effect as these two examples I have picked...... (from my perspective anyway) the idea of this post is to provoke thought and discussion, hope it works.....

Books such as George Orwells 1984 - is a dystopian novel published in 1949. The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation. The superstate and its residents are dictated to by a political regime euphemistically named English Socialism, shortened to "Ingsoc" in Newspeak, the government's invented language. The superstate is under the control of the privileged elite of the Inner Party, a party and government that persecutes individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrime", which is enforced by the "Thought Police".

The tyranny is ostensibly overseen by Big Brother, the Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. The Party "seeks power entirely for its own sake. It is not interested in the good of others; it is interested solely in power.

Ring any bells to todays society ???

Or another E.M Forster "The Machine stops".... publishing initially in 1909. The story, set in a world where humanity lives underground and relies on a giant machine to provide their needs, and predicted technologies such as instant messaging and the Internet and IVF treatments or modelling of human beings.

So what is the future looking forward......
