अली नाम के एक लड़के को पैसों की सख्त ज़रुरत थी . उसने अपने मालिक से मदद मांगी . मालिक पैसे देने को तैयार हो गया पर उसने एक शर्त रखी . शर्त ये थी कि अली को बिना आग जलाये कल की रात पहाड़ी की सबसे ऊँची चोटी पर बितानी थी , अगर वो ऐसा कर लेता तो उसे एक बड़ा इनाम मिलता और अगर नहीं कर पाता तो उसे मुफ्त में काम करना होता .

अली जब दुकान से निकला तो उसे एहसास हुआ कि वाकई कड़ाके की ठण्ड पड़ रही है और बर्फीली हवाएं इसे और भी मुश्किल बना रही हैं . उसे मन ही मन लगा कि शायद उसने ये शर्त कबूल कर बहुत बड़ी बेवकूफी कर दी है . घबराहट में वह तुरंत अपने दोस्त आदिल के पास पहुंचा और सारी बात बता दी .

आदिल ने कुछ देर सोचा और बोला , “ चिंता मत करो , मैं तुम्हारी मदद करूँगा . कल रात , जब तुम पहाड़ी पर होगे तो ठीक सामने देखना मैं तुम्हारे लिए सामने वाली पहाड़ी पर सारी रात आग जल कर बैठूंगा .

तुम आग की तरफ देखना और हमारी दोस्ती के बारे में सोचना ; वो तुम्हे गर्म रखेगी।

और जब तुम रात बिता लोगे तो बाद में मेरे पास आना , मैं बदले में तुमसे कुछ लूंगा .”

अली अगली रात पहाड़ी पर जा पहुंचा , सामने वाली पहाड़ी पर आदिल भी आग जल कर बैठा था .

अपने दोस्त की दी हुई हिम्मत से अली ने वो बर्फीली रात किसी तरह से काट ली . मालिक ने शर्त के मुताबिक उसे ढेर सारे पैसे इनाम में दिए .

इनाम मिलते ही वो आदिल के पास पहुंचा , और बोला, “ तुमने कहा था कि मेरी मदद के बदले में तुम कुछ लोगे … कितने पैसे चाहिएं तुम्हे ..”

आदिल बोला , “ हाँ मैंने कुछ लेने को कहा था , पर वो पैसे नहीं हैं . मैं तो तुमसे एक वादा लेना चाहता हूँ … वादा करो कि अगर कभी मेरी ज़िन्दगी में भी बर्फीली हवाएं चलें तो तुम मेरे लिए दोस्ती की आग जलाओगे .”

अली ने फ़ौरन उसे गले लगा लिया और हमेशा दोस्ती निभाने का वादा किया .

Friends, कहते हैं दोस्ती ही वो पहला रिश्ता होता है जो हम खुद बनाते हैं , बाकी रिश्तों के साथ तो हम पैदा होते हैं . सचमुच अगर हम अपनी life से “दोस्तों ” को minus कर दें तो ज़िन्दगी कितनी खाली लगे … दोस्त होने का मतलब सिर्फ खुशियां बांटना नहीं होता …दोस्ती का असली मतलब अपने दोस्त का उस समय साथ देना होता है जब वो मुसीबत में हो , जब उसे हमारी सबसे ज्यादा ज़रुरत हो …
