Becoming a programmer has never been so easy due to the fact that there is a huge demand for programmers in the world. Regardless of the business model any company would have, they will hire a programmer either for their website development or for building their phone app. Not only that, today, anyone make their dream app a reality provided they can code.

Coding has become so important that many developers around the world have facilitated free resources with the aim of assisting the community in order to prepare more and more programmers.

Today, I will introduce you with 2 amazingly well done websites which will help you become a proficient programmer for free (In no specific order):

1 - https://codecademy.com

This website has evolved a lot since I first used it and to be honest it has really improved a lot. It used to be useful and today it is very very useful.

You may login by inputting your email address and a password or using your LinkedIn, Google, Facebook or github account. Once you login (they have a PRO version which you can easily skip), it lets you decide which path to take. I would suggest starting with the basic course they provide called "Learn to how code":

Just click START and you are good to go.

Their user interface is pretty intuitive, you just have to read the information on the left and work on right side.

2 - https://www.freecodecamp.org/

I was introduced to this website by @fyrstikken who hires programmers for his business on a daily basis. He claims that after 6 months you will become an IT engineer if you dedicate 2 hours a day!.

Just click on Start coding (it's free) and then you continue with Google, Github, Facebook or your Email.

They have a fixed curriculum prepared for you, which at times, I consider it to be even easier because they will drag you to the right path to becoming a great programmer without the hassle of having you make your own decisions.

Scroll down until you can click "Go to te coding curriculum":

Their user interface is pretty simple. On the left, you can read all the information of the lesson. In the middle, you will be adding the necessary code. On the right, you will see the results as you advance.

What I like about this site is that you will start learning immediately and with no hassles.

Since learning how to code is a task which you must take seriously, do not be lazy to prepare yourself before hand. You will spend a few hours on each course but trust me, they are 100% worth it.

Bonus: Feel like a professional hacker by just typing random keys on your keyboard on this site: hackertyper.com
