Stellar lumens to give away - giant airdrop with 2 billion XLM

Who is not pleased when it rains "Coins from Heaven"? Such good news now comes from one of the most well-known and prolific crypto projects: the Stellar Development Foundation . In fact, the Stellar Foundation is planning a huge airdrop that will give away a total of 2 billion to Stellar Lumens. Two billion XLMs are currently equivalent to over $ 120 million. The massive Airdrop will take place over a 20-month period with 100 million XLM given away each month.

The reason for the massive Airdrop lies in the new partnership between Stellar and Keybase. Keybase claims to be an alternative to Slack, WhatsApp or Telegram, which combines various services such as messaging, file storage and crypto-wallets.

Stellar Lumens (XLM) to give away - 100 million a month

The question that arises in the context of an Airdrop will probably be as follows: How can I participate in Airdrop to get XLM for free? Since the Airdrop takes place in the context of the new partnership with Keybase, the offer is initially aimed at the Keybase users. Important here, however, is the following: the offer is only for users who have created their Keybase account before 09.09.2019 or their Github / HackerNews account, which was created before 09.09, link to the Keybase account. Literally it says in the update from 11.09:

We still send (successively) Stellar Lumens to the first pool of people. If you were a Keybase user before September 9th, and you have not yet received XLM, you will receive your XLM this weekend. If you have registered and qualified after September 9, you will receive your part in mid-October.
The expectation of the Airdrop is therefore clear: it is to create a benefit for the majority of Keybase users by giving Stellar Lumens (XLM) to give away . Currently, Keybase has about 300,000 user accounts - since the registration, registration and use of the service is free, of course, a significant user growth is expected.

Stellar Lumens to give away: boost for Keybase?

Since the current total volume of the Airdrops includes 2 billion XLM, the Airdrop initially runs for over 20 months. In each of these 20 months, there are then 100 million XLM to give away. According to Cathy Corwin of Inkhouse (= official PR agency for Keybase) , the huge Airdrop could be extended for another 20 months, if he brings the desired results and can meet the high expectations.

In sum, the massive Airdrop should not only bring more users to Keybase, but of course also increase the 'fan base' of XLM and increase the acceptance and awareness of the cryptocurrency.

Considering that the Stellar (Lumens) Development Foundation holds a two-digit share of the total supply of XLM, the Airdrop also leads to a more even distribution of the XLM.

In sum, it can be said that the Airdrop - fueled by the partnership between the Stellar Development Foundation and Keybase - leads to a win-win situation. The recipients of the Airdrop are pleased about the free XLM, Keybase is pleased about the new users and Stellar about the increased awareness.
