Washington Silver Quarters

From 1932 to 1964 the United states quarter dollar had 1st President of the United States, George Washington's potrait on the front of the coin, and an eagle with its wing spread on the reverse side. This design is a classic and was only altered for the state quarter series in 1999. Although the designed stay the same for over 65 years, the elements within a quarter changed in 1965 and the coin minted for circulation from that point on did not contain silver. The bust of Washington was reduced in size beginning in 1999; in 2010 it was restored to bring out better detail. While a lot of these coins where pulled from circulation by collectors and also by banks, as the government needed precious metals for war efforts and rebuilding.

I personally think that coins pulled from circulation are super cool. Especially when you have a coin that is 80 years old and to think about all the places it's been and things it's seen is incredible. Or it could have been in a drawer for 79 of those years, found by someone cleaning out the drawer, spent at a retail establishment and fished out of the change by me, who knows really. Hope this is a good post for my first steemsilvergold post ;) Thanks for reading!
