ALOHA in SILVER! πŸ„β€β™€οΈπŸŒ…πŸŒ΄πŸπŸ§

What comes to mind when you think of the US 50th State of Hawaii?

Is it the State Dance Hula?

Or the State Individual Sport Surfing πŸ„β€β™€οΈ?

Or the State Musical Instrument Ukelele?

Or the State Flower Pua Aloalo or Hibiscus?

Perhaps it is the beautiful sunrise and sunsets in the beach πŸŒ…, or tropical coconut trees 🌴, or sugar cane, or pineapple🍍, or shaved ice🍧!

Or the State Philosophy Aloha Spirit!

Vintage Hawai'i Silver Art Bar and Art Round

1976 Hamilton Mint Hawai'i Silver Art Bar.

1 oz, .999 fs, serialized #1757, highy toned, a birthyear silver bar.

On top of the bar appearing like clouds is the map of the main islands of Hawaii (L to R):

  • Ni'ihau, The Forbidden Isle
  • Kaua'i, The Garden Isle
  • O'ahu, The Gathering Place
  • Moloka'i, The Friendly Isle
  • Lana'i, The Pineapple Isle
  • Maui, The Valley Isle
  • Kaho'olawe, The Target Isle (the tiny speck underneath Maui)
  • Hawa'i, The Big Island
  • The face of the bar depicts a female hula dancer in a grass skirt, a man seated on the sand playing a ukelele, a pineapple, and coconut leaves.

The back of the bar is the Capitol Building in Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, in the island of O'ahu.

On the edge of the bar is inscriber the serial number of the bar, 1757.

Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States on the same month my Mom turned 7 years old.

1990 Aloha From Hawaii Scenic Series No. 6: Kalawao, Molokai

    1 oz, .999 fs, proof-like finish, yellow-orange toning, 5,000 minted.

The obverse of this art round depicts the scenery shown below.

The reverse shows a wahine making kapa.
Lauhala weaving and the making of kapa (pounded-bark cloth) for clothing and artworks are two ancient Hawaiian crafts. Traditionally lauhala served as floor mats, canoe sails, protective capes and more. Weaving the lau (leaves) of the hala (pandanus) tree is the easier part, while preparing the leaves, which have razor-sharp spines, is messy work. Today the most common lauhala items are hats, placemats and baskets.
