Famous Silver Smiths #3 Stuart Devlin

Today we are going to share with you a more contemporary Silversmith, actually Stuart Devlin is also a Goldsmith, In 1982, Stuart Devlin was awarded the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller to Her the Queen. He was also the Prime Warden of the Goldsmith's Company 1996–97. He has been called “the designer with he midas touch”

He was on born 9 October 1931 in Australia He has designed coins and metals for over 36 countries around the world, He has designed precious metal coins for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and also the medals for the founding awards of the Australian honours system in 1975: the Order of Australia, the Australian Bravery Decorations and the National Medal. He is especially well known as a London-based designer of collector's items in the 1970s and 1980s, including his signature eggs and Christmas presents that are made of silver and when opened have a unique design inside.
This is an egg with Old Mother Hubbard inside he has many different designs including many nursery rhymes.

He did a full series of the twelve days of Christmas this one is two turtle doves.

His work is amazing and extensive, it is also pricey but art like this is definitely worth the price.

His work is so varied he really is a true craftman.

He is now 86 years old and still living in England but following a stroke in 2014 he is no longer taking any commissions. Here is an early picture of him with some of the Australian Coins he designed
