The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is a Nigerian political activist based in the United Kingdom. He is the director of a London-based radio station, Radio Biafra. He attended Library Avenue Primary School (now part of Government House, Umuahia) and went to Government College for his secondary education. Later, Nnamdi Kanu gained admission to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) but was forced to leave for Europe in order to finish his studies, following delays occasioned by incessant strikes by the university’s academic and non-academic staff.

Though the leader of IPOB is not in Nigeria, he has been holding his radio programs in Radio Biafra London and still passing messages to his followers in Nigeria amdist the coronavirus pandemic fears.
