The Scary Truth About Trevon James

When I first got into crypto, I found a guy on Steemit and YouTube named Trevon James. He would do videos, apparently right after the woke up, and talk about different things he was doing in crypto.

One of the ways that he funded his videos and made him some money, was asking people to use his referral links. He got a lot of followers and a lot of people clicked those links and watched his videos. I enjoyed the content he was putting out.

At some point he started talking a lot about Bitconnect and why wouldn't he, he was making a killing. Many people saw how much he was making and decided to do it myself. I have to be honest, I even clicked his referral link and signed up to Bitconnect, but never really did anything. I had this gut feeling that it was too good to be true, and I didn't want to put almost all of my Bitcoin into a platform I didn't trust. So I never did anything.

A lot of people did sign up and took Trevon's advice, but then the site went down and a very large number of people lost money. Some lost their savings and kid's college funds and people were angry. They wanted someone to blame and Trevon is getting the blame.

You can tell in his videos he is kinda shell shocked. He himself lost a ton of money from Bitconnect, but he never expected the backlash he is getting. It is kinda crazy. People are literally searching for him on the Internet and now it looks like they found him.

This is scary. Here is a guy who flipped burgers and started making money with some crypto and told the world about it. People listened and he always said that he wasn't a financial advisor, and to do what's best for you. He would even say don't invest more than you can lose. He said all the right things, but people really don't like this guy right now, and it's sad.

Maybe there is more to it. Maybe he knew it was a sinking ship and still made money off of people, but I don't think that was the case. At least that's the way I see it. He was one that got scammed too. Now he is the fall guy and people are mad at him because he gave them a referral link. The scary truth is you better watch what platforms you support with your referral links.

I've given dozens of people my Coinbase referral link and made some money off of it, but what if it goes down? What if it crashes and they walk away with all the money on Coinbase. Are the people that I sent the referral link to going to be mad at me?

More things like Bitconnect will rise and fall, and people will get excited about them and then they fail. When things like this happen, we can't blame the people who told us about the platform. The best thing to do is blame the people who committed the crime or yourself. I mean, if you can put in $10,000 Bitcoin for loans and make $26,000 in 150 days, something isn't right.  I know crypto makes some people think that money can grow on trees, but this is getting ridiculous.

If something seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

I feel bad for Trevon James and hope he can find a way to get past all this crap. Maybe really investigate projects and platforms before promoting. lol I still watch his videos, he always puts me on to new stuff I didn't know about. The thing is, I'm not going to do anything that I don't believe in or trust.

Do you think people are going too far in blaming Trevon James?
