I know it's a little confusing to some so I'll crunch the number's up and show u how much u would be getting if u had a post a week ago that made $10.
First u need to know few things, out of the $10 u make from post :
20% goes to currators - > people who like ( up-vote ) , comment and resteem your post.
40% goes to steem dollars -> currency u can immediately excange in to bitcoin and move to your external wallet
40% goes to steem power -> your up-votes will "mine" more $ when u up-vote simply put.
So let's crunch in the numbers : 20% goes to currators so u've left with 8$.
Out of 8$ u get 4 steem dollars and 0.858 steem power.
Let's dig a bit deeper.
Steem dollar is supposed to be equivalent to 1$ but it's not. Currently 1 steem dollar is worth about 0.0004365 btc
And 0.0004365 btc is about $3.86
So in essence 1 steem dollar = $3.86
And u got 4 steem dollars so that's 4x3.86 = $15.44 + 0.858 steem power ( ~ $4 )
So you see, currently if your post's make $10 u essentialy earn 80% and that's = $19.44.
This is at the time of writing, if the bitcoin or steem dollar rises or falls u would have more or less money.
