Steemit works based on manuel voting by those who have the high Steem power in theory. Those with high Steem power earn curation reward for their votes, and those who produce content earn author reward. Again, according to the theory, those with high Steem power choose and vote high quality content, while earning curation reward and maintaining quality content. But this is not how Steemit works in practice. Of course, there are idealistic Steemians who are willing to use most of their Steem power to vote for the quality content, and who are satisfied with the curation reward they have achieved.
