Announcing @steemcanada - Steemit / STEEM Advertising North of the Border in Canada!

(thanks to @pfunk for this lovely art, which I bastardized with my face)

Canada

A land of Freedom, Maple Syrup & Moose

(A picture outlining the border and main cities in Canada - wiki)

A country spanning thousands of kilometers with a population of roughly 35,000,000 people. One notable thing about my country is that majority of the population lives in about two dozen large cities scattered across the land. While personally I'm located in the central prairie provinces.. The ability to reach out to these larger cities and establish advertising for Steemit / STEEM is an idea I've been developing a long while now. Time to begin the plan!

(a graph of population growth in Canada - google images)

As you can see the population of Canada has been steady increasing over the past 70 years or so. Given that perhaps 50% of the Canadian population is roughly in the target demographic for Steemit.com / STEEM that means there are nearly 15,000,000 Canadians out there to be found, converted and welcomed onto Steemit.com up here in Canada...

This is where the @steemcanada campaign comes in!

What is the @steemcanada Project?

Put in the most basic of terms the @steemcanada project aims to bring awareness of Steemit / STEEM to the masses up here in Canada. My country is somewhat of an untapped hotbed for resources both in respects to natural and human assets. Given that winter's cold grasp has once again begun to clamp down here figure it's a perfect time to herd folks to the site to weather the cold, here on Steemit.

How Will it Work?

The primary goal of the @steemcanada project is to spread awareness and advertise Steemit.com & STEEM to the citizens of Canada located in the larger (>50,000 people) populations centers. This will be achieved by renting out advertising space on benches, bus stops, billboards and other mediums that receive large amounts of views per a day, which in turn should stimulate user-base growth and views for the site.

Funding to purchase various advertising angles will be collected from posts such as this.

Every time the @steemcanada project rents a bench or advertising area a post will be created on that account outlining the costs, location and time frame the advertisement will run for.

Which Canadian Cities will be Targeted?

The population of Canada resides mainly within large population centers. A list of the largest Canadian cities ordered by population can be viewed below and is a rough list of cities that the @steemcanada project will be advertising in for maximum exposure per dollar spent.

(list of Canadian cities to be targetted for advertising - wiki)

Naturally as an advertiser you want to target your largest population centers first, meaning that Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton are the first 5 up on the list to get Steemit.com advertisements given this post is a success and manages to raise funds to go forward with this advertisement campaign. Please vote on this post to help.

Once the top 3 cities pictured above have had advertisment campaigns launched in them I'll be working my way from the West coast to the East coast deploying Steemit.com / STEEM advertising in the major population centers listed above. @steemcanada will be ongoing.

We Need YOUR Help to Make This Happen!

The endevour laid out in this plan isn't going to be cheap and support from both the STEEM community and Steemit Inc is almost compulsory for the @steemcanada project to properly advertise our network up here in Canada. On average it costs $75-$500 CAD to rent a bench for a 1 month time period and ideally we'd have 10 or more benches per a city to ensure maximum coverage.

Exact numbers and costs are currently being calculated and a well known advertising firm up here in Canada has been contacted in regards to rolling out advertisements up here.

By the sound of it non-profits (such as Steemit) may be eligible for discounts on bench advertisement so as information becomes available I'll be sure to share it on here.

TL;DR: Upvote this post at 100% in order to help me advertise Steemit in Canada.
