Good evening readers, i feel like talking about our law enforcement agencies tonight in particular the Nigerian police force based on the experience i had today. i hope you find this piece a good and valuable one. In recent times, the concern for intervention into the recruitment of people into the nigeria police force have become a matter of concern.
The manner and behavior of these so called officers have become questionable that even people don't want thier sons and daughters marrying any family with a policeman as a relative. Bribery, corruption, unjust accusation, getting drunk on duty, beating up civilians for not parking on the highway because you were blowing your sirens for no emergency, beating up civilians because of their hairstyle, searching peoples houses without warrant, forcefully beating up people in other to obtain access to their phone, following a civilian to cash out the bribe you want to collect at the ATM, molestation of women, these among many other criminal characters is what we are given by men who swore to serve and protect the people they now victimize.
one of my friend's on dreadlocks was on his way to work as he is a barber and he was approached by a vehicle from which Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad members came down he was harrassed even after showing them his ID card he was threatened as they corked their guns ready to gun him down because he was asked to follow them for no reason. he was arrested and detained but was later bailed.
my question was what did he do he was not a suspect in an ungoing investigation neither was he a known criminal or was anything illegal found on him. they just wanted to make sure he paid some money and they eventually collected 3000naira from him.
To conclude i thought they said bail is free so why did he have to pay, the amount of people police has killed due to druken shooting is countless, these are the unjust hostilities experienced by everyday nigerians.
