This could be a reality very soon, thanks to a project being developed by the renowned Exchange located on Wall Street, Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE).
In conjunction with BCG, Microsoft and Starbucks; this company plans to launch Bakkt. A platform that will use Microsoft's cloud to create an open and regulated market for digital currencies.
According to a statement on this project:
"The new company is working with a group of organizations such as BCG, Microsoft, Starbucks and others. To create an integrated platform that allows consumers and institutions to buy, sell, store and spend digital assets in a global network. "
"By bringing regulated and connected infrastructure together with institutional and consumer applications for digital assets, we aim to build confidence in the asset class on a global scale, in line with our track record of providing transparency and confidence to previously unregulated markets," said Jeffrey C. Sprecher, Founder, President and CEO of Intercontinental Exchange.
"Bakkt is designed to serve as a scalable access ramp for institutional, commercial and consumer participation in digital assets by promoting greater efficiency, security and utility," said Kelly Loeffler, CEO of Bakkt. "We are collaborating to build an open platform that helps unleash the transformation potential of digital assets in markets and global commerce."
"Blockchain's technology has enormous potential to enable new business models and reliable ecosystems," said Sean Collins, BCG's senior partner. "By leveraging and developing the fundamental infrastructure of the market, the Bakkt platform will enable companies in all sectors to accelerate a broad range of innovations."
About the project that seeks to develop with respect to this giant of the coffee industry:

Bakkt seeks to be an intermediary that achieves that the cryptocurrencies have a greater liquidity and that can be used in establishments like Starbucks. Although the payment will not be made directly in cryptocurrencies, this project could be a direct driver for its use to grow.
