Why do we take new year's resolutions ?

Is it mandatory for everyone one of us to take new year's resolutions. If the answer to this question is, YES in anybody's mind - do tell me why in the Comments below.
But if you think that the answer should be NO, then I may have to agree to disagree with you.

The basic problem with New year's resolutions are that they have a very short lifetime.
The short lifetime is usually due to our negligence and laziness but we do find a very good excuse to justify all the time we wasted.

In my opinion it is neither right nor wrong to have a good New year's resolution, the only drawback is that we do not put in much effort to fulfill and upkeep our resolution. This in turn leads to backsliding, which is a process of reliving ourselves from our own duties - in this case - our New year's resolution.

As a conclusion to all this, I would like to remind you guys, my friends that having a New year's resolution is a great start, but it is much better to have a Whole Year's resolution - which would last for the full year.

THANK YOU ALL.
AND WISHING YOU A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
