It was about time.

It was about time for a new social network.

One that uses decentralization and the recent blockchain paradigm, one that brings true value to its users, one that is not flooded with useless pages and ads, one that is not infected with the "tag a friend who..." phenomena.

Steemit's direction may not be to replace Facebook entirely, as it does not consist of the same short viral content format as the latter. But it surely has the potential to become the first widely used social media which favors smart content and real value over scrolling and time wasting. The only question is why would anyone remain to use the messy Facebook when there's a perfect pair of sites such as the reputable Steemit and the viral 9GAG.

This does not mean Steemit cannot be a source of fun. It means the entertainment we can read here can be a lot more natural and is worth sharing in our daily lives, since posts on this website have to be sustained by cool facts, spontaneous details and great style.

This is it for my first ever post on Steemit :)
