Whenever we have spare time, what do we choose to do with it? Well that depends, if we are really free to choose it can be anything. But sometimes we have to wait, in line, or for a ride, have to wait to get free of something and the time is not really free.
Then playing games like candycrash, interacting on fb or whatsup, reading local news, are some of the ways we spend our waiting time.
Watching television is another option.
All those "activities" are used to gather information about us. What do we think, what do we like, who do we know, what are we planning, how do we react, how do we choose.
This information is gold. But all those entertainment providers, think it is fair to get this information only for providing us the contnet or platform.
Well we are paying for the infrastructure and we create the content. We deserve to get back value for the information we provide.
That is why I prefer to spend my time on Steemit.
