In the island called Coron, Palawan, Philippines you will be able to experience a different kind of dinner buffet.

Aside from it floating in the middle of the sea, there is an extra special treat you get to have before dinner.

The entire package costs Php 900 (pesos).
It includes a speed boat ride to and from the restaurant.

You can't just name the resto 'firefly' if you don't get to see them right?
So before they take you out to eat, this is the extra i'm talking about, you get to go firefly watching. I'm not just talking about a couple of them but an entire trees' population. And not just one tree but loads of mangroves lining up had them!

When we were there, the skies were clear and the stars were reflected on the waters plus the reflection of the fireflies equals magical!

But wait there's more!
I didn't know why we were given sticks which the guide called a 'magic wand'.
The Potterhead in me got excited of course.
He instructed us to strike the water and to my total amazement, the water lit up where the stick struck.

The water had planktons which light up!
I couldn't help but utter magic words i learned through years of reading and watching Harry Potter. It was the closest thing to visiting the wizarding world! And the coolest thing everrrrr!

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to use the flash feature of the camera or flashlight, hence no photos or videos taken because of total darkness. The experience is just embedded in my memory.

After that really awesome time playing around with the water, the speed boat took us to the floating resto.

There, we were amazed by the native design and the ambiance. Lamps were made from woven leaves and looked like fireflies trapped in a jar.

The buffet had a wide selection of delectable food and some native recipes were present.
From crab soup to pasta, stir fried shrimp, chicken adobo, sweet and sour fish, pork barbeque, to the beef with broccoli, everthing was delicious.
They also had watermelon and pineapples for dessert. Pineapple and calamansi juice as refreshing drinks.

Halfway through enjoying a good meal, entertainment was provided.
A man with a guitar stationed himself at the center and sang famous songs nowadays like One Day, Perfect, Reggae Remix and a native song the Island called Palawan which makes you want to dance in your seats. (which we did by the way)

Eating here did not only fill our bellies but all the other senses. It was a total package.
We went back to our hotel floating too!

I loved the whole experience this resto had to offer!
I definitely would recommend this to you.
Two thumbs up for giving me such a wonderful night. I would have given it 4 if i had more thumbs..haha

I hope you get to visit and go through the same experience as i did.
Come to Palawan and don't forget to book a night to eat at the Firefly Floating Restaurant.
