OSTEOPOROSIS is a medical condition in which bones become weak and fragile, thereby making it impossible for the body to constantly absorb and replace bone tissues or create new bone tissues. It's really a life threatnening condition but we are strengthened by the scriptural assurance that By the strippes of JESUS CHRIST (1peter 2:24) we are healed and he is the greatest physician, that means no sickness can stand God's Power.(luke4:23; luke 5:31)

Preventive measures of Osteoporosis

Health is wealth, that is why its key for us to always take proper care of our health. Irrespective of our income, there are foods and fruits which contains SUPER STAR NUTRIENTS such as calcium and vitamin D that are affordable and accessible so as to be more healthier such as yoghurt, raw milk, sardines, almonds, mushrooms, fortified cereals, orange, fish,liver, shrimps, eggs, Beans, Tiger nut,watermelons, pineapple,Edible Hibiscus leaf, okro etc.

Taking daily supplements on fish oils like cod liver oil will increase the body's nutrient substantially.

Its also important for schools to create awareness for children so as to educate them more fully on the importance of physical and health so as to attain peak bone mass in our kids.

Organisations as well are not left out because osteoporosis affects more of the adults but when there are seminars, workshops, awarenesses to enlighten them more fully on how to eradicate this deadly sillent killer, our Seniors will always have peak bone mass and the society at large will benefit greatly. And am so greateful that steem has been able to help enlighten people in various ways on how to enhance health and i believe that in no distant time STEEM will surpass google search engine and people will benefit more fully and testify greatly.

Its really of great importance for us to expose ourselves to early morning sunlight because the sun is the source of sustaining all life on earth. And when the skin is exposed to sunlight, the body produces large amount of vitamin D. So spending atleast ten (10)minutes in the sun daily is very important.


CAUSES OF OSTEOPOROSIS

  1. Lack of calcium causes osteoporosis, tooth decay, muscle tension and high blood pressure.

  2. Lack of vitamin D in the body leads to osteoporosis, asthma, low immunity, heart diseases, anxiety, fatique, cancer, tuberculosis to mention but a few.

  3. Inadequate exposure to sunlight (early morning sunlight)

  4. Inadequate exercise such as lifting, jumping, running, stair climbing etc

  5. Liver or kidney disease: as one age, his/her kidneys are less to convert vit D to its active force thereby causing problems for digestive tracks which can cause inadequate absorption of Vitamins

List of some African (NIGERIA) Foods rich in calcium and vitamin D are:

  • Sweet potato: it has a high level of calcium content. when baked with skin potato contains about 26mg of calcium but without skin its reduced to 8mg.

  • Okra: it's very valuable because of its green pods. And it can be used to make various types of cuisines. Its calcium content ranges from 82 to 74mg in 100g of okra.

  • Salmons: are rich in mega-3fatty acids and a large portion of salmon contains 181mg of calcium.

  • Cocoyam: it contains a great number of vitamin D and calcium and these play great roles in the formation and maintenance of bone health as well as gum health thereby holding the teeth firmly.

  • Termites has great percentage of calcium and vitamin d that helps enhance bone health.

  • Tigernut: be it the nut itself or the processed and prepared seed used as a drink is richly fortified in calcium and vitamin D.


SUMMARY

With all this vital informations about what oseteoporosis is all about, its causes and ways of preventing this silent killer disease, i strongly believe that if we adhere to the health tips being enlisted, we all both children and Seniors will have Peak Healthy Bones.
