Hello dear steemians, a happy thursday to you all. I would love to talk on a topic that affects us all as humans. Being a human means that you think like one, act like one and when faced with certain situations you'll definitely react as humans.
Today, i will be using the story of jacob's sons in the bible to elaborate on our topic.
From the moment Simeon And Levi heard that Dinah had been molested, they were fully set on vengeance. That was successfully done when they had the men of hamor circumcise themselves. In our passage today, Jacob expressed the fear of reprisal killings that the other hivittes may carry out. Even though that never took place, this event was still visited in the final days of Jacob.
When he was giving prophetic word over each of his sons; he rebuked these two brothers for extra-judicial killings they carried out on innocent people.
"Simeon and Levi are brethren, instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. O my soul , come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united; for in their anger they slew a man,and in their self will they dug down a wall. Cursed be their anger, for it fierce, and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel" (Genesis 49:5-7) .

Taking vengeance turned out to be a minus in their prophetic heritage eventually.
When you are tempted to revenge, remember two things.
First consider how well you will like it if all you offended were to take vengeance on you.
Second, remember that it is only God that has the prerogative to avenge all wrongs.
WHY SHOULD WE LEAVE VENGEANCR FOR GOD? you may ask
God has said that vengeance should belong to Him alone, but why?
In the book of Romans 12:19 ESV "Beloved, never avenge
yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 32:35 ESV "Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly."
I take vengeance in this context to mean that God will intercede for a wronged person and give the other party their come-up-pance here on earth (distinct from His eternal judgement).
The knowledge of good and evil proves that God can decide what punishment (or
vengeance) to be placed against a
wrongdoer. Any man except Jesus Himself
would be acting against God in serving
vengeance against our wrongdoers.
