He was a Greek doctor who accompanied the apostle Paul on his missionary journeys. His main contribution was to investigate about the life of Jesus and share this wonderful story with us.
Today's chapters talk about the birth of Jesus! Have you ever imagined how I would have lived in that time and received that great news?
Maria was one of those people. An angel brought him the following message: "Do not be afraid, Mary, you were graced by God! You will be with children and will give birth to a son, and you will be called Jesus. Most high, the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign forever over the people of Jacob, his kingdom will never end ... The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with his shadow, so that he who is to be born will be called Holy, Son of God."
On the night Jesus was born, it was the shepherds of Bethlehem who had the privilege of hearing that news and in a surprising way.
"But the angel said to them:" Do not be afraid. I am bringing good news of great joy to you, which are for all the people: Today, in the city of David, the Savior was born, who is Christ, the Lord. This will serve as a sign for you: you will find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly, a great multitude of the heavenly army appeared with the angel, praising God and saying: 'Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to the men to whom he grants his favor.' "
The good news of God for me and for you is that He sent Jesus Christ to save us! He came to forgive our sins and rescue us from the hand of our enemies to serve God without fear, in holiness and justice every day of our lives! He came to shine on those who are living in the darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feet on the path of peace. No other news that you will hear will be more important than that!
