DEALING WITH THOMAS' DISEASE

I bring you warm greetings from the Most High God.
And often the spirit has thrown him both into the fire and water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us. Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes" (Mark 9: 22 -23)

Three days ago, I established the fact that Doubting is a nature we all carry and we inherited it from Eva. So we must deal with it and the Bible shows us how people dealt with their doubting nature.
In today's scriptures, a father needed help for his child, who was a spirit possessed, so he pleaded with Jesus for help, saying if Jesus can. But the Lord placed the onus (the responsibility) back on the father, that if he can believe, for everything can be done for the one who believes.
It's therefore imperative to learn to deal with the root of our doubts.

First - renew your mind. Simply put, change your thinking (Eph 4 17- 18, 23 -24). Paul instruct us, not to walk or live as Christians as the rest of unbelievers. Why?
They walk according to the futility or vanity or the perverseness of their mind or thinking, and their understanding is also darkened, they have ignorance in them and their mind is blind.
What do you expect from such a person? He or she would be sceptic, not that the Bible isn't true but they themselves have a problem and their problem is inside them. Unfortunately, they see the other person as wrong or idiot.
We renew our mind or thinking with the Word of God, the holy scriptures. It makes us wise, sharp, understanding, and full of the light of God that enables us to distinguish what is acceptable, what is good and what is perfect before God (Rom 12: 2)
Second - be a fair- minded person (Acts 17: 10 -12). It's said of the people of Berea, that they were fair minded people. For they first eagerly and readily received the message Paul brought to them and then spent time to study, search and examine the Scriptures to assertain the truth for themselves, whether what Paul taught them align and harmonize with the Scriptures. That is Berean spirit, which is missing in the life of most christians and churches today. No wonder we continue to carry Thomas disease. Note that renewing your mind with the Bible makes you a fair minded person and not a bigot.
Third - speak the scriptural truth in contrary circumstances (Joshua 14: 7 -8)
This is where the rubber meet the road. And this is where most of us fumble as Christians.

We are not like Caleb, because we have not spent time to read, listen to, study and meditate on scriptures and filled our heart and mind with scriptural truths and scriptural faith. So when we hear anything or see something or feel something, what comes out of us is usually doubting, unbelief and faith killing words and attitudes.
Caleb tells us forty years after he and others were sent as spies. He said he also saw the giants, he also looked like grasshopper before the giants, he also saw the huge walls and cities but he refused to doubt God's mighty power that delivered them from the power of Pharaoh, parted the Red sea and gave them mannah to eat, and spoke what he had all along believed in his heart. He spoke what was in his heart, that Jehovah God loved them and would help them defeat the giants as He had promised them.
So this is how we deal with the Thomas disease, not by trusting our common sense, judgment or intelligence, but trusting in the holiness of God that His Word is true and faithful, no matter who He send to deliver (but He gives you the right to verify it, but from the Written Scriptures)
Remember, all things are possible to him who believes. So don't rely on your senses, rely on the holy Scriptures, don't depend on your intelligence, depend on Christ, and don't trust your feelings, trust the Holy Spirit.
May the power to believe in all situations be granted to you by Christ and cause scriptural faith to flow from your heart always to meet all circumstances, not matter how contrary they appear. And may all things become possible for you through faith this season in Jesus name. Amen
Shalom, life and grace to you
