THE FIRST COMMANDMENT OF THE LAW OF GOD IS: YOU WILL LOVE GOD ABOUT ALL THINGS.
Loving God is not, precisely, feeling sensitive affection towards Him, as we feel towards our parents; because God can not be seen, and it is difficult for people who are not seen to be loved. God does not force that, because it is not in our hand. Although there are people who come to feel it, with the grace of God.
To love God above all things is to have him in supreme esteem, that is, to be convinced that God is worth more than anyone, and therefore to prefer him to all things.
We have to love God because he loved us first and we must reciprocate him. Love manifests itself in works more than in words. Works are loves and not good deeds. To love God is to obey him, to fulfill his will. Do not hurt anyone Do good to everyone.
A test of love for God above all things is to keep his commandments above all else. That is, be willing to lose everything rather than offend him. Therefore, prefer God whenever you have to choose between obeying him or committing a grave sin.
The most important thing in this life is to love. And to learn to love we have to discover who we really are and connect with our deepest essence.
