Hello,
I'm finally on Steemit and I'm excited to be here. Forgive my rookie mistakes. It seems the proper thing to do is introduce myself.
I currently live with my amazing wife and 2 fantastic daughters in Indiana (United States). I grew up in Michigan and then attended Huntington University where I got a degree in Art Education and met my wife. We were married the summer after we graduated and both got jobs as teachers. In my 13 years working in public schools I've been a Title 1 teacher, Reading Recovery Teacher, Computer Lab manager, art teacher, and P.E. teacher.
As for my time outside of the school, I enjoy spending time with my family and creating things. Things like handmade pottery, websites, designs for shirts and logos, photographs, and other art. I am a fan of handmade works and try to support as many artists as I can.
My own pottery is mostly made with stoneware clay and thrown on the pottery wheel. Almost all of my work is functional and intended for daily use. My most popular pots are the map mugs and map cups which incorporate old maps from hundreds of years ago. I am blessed to live in an area with a strong group of potters and generally creative people.
I've recently started my most ambitious project, a website called Expert Clay. It will allow potters and ceramic artists to offer digital resources and online courses to others. As part of this project I've started a podcast as well.
As for entertainment, I enjoy watching sports, especially American football. I enjoy reading but lately I've consumed most of my literature through audiobooks while I'm working with clay. I've gotten into more science fiction in the past few years and enjoy action movies, comedies and movies and TV shows that make you think.
I am a big fan of technology and have recently become interested in cryptocurrency, decentralization, and blockchain technologies. I've started trading cryptocurrencies as a hobby but hope to make money some day after I learn a lot more about it. I also enjoy playing Daily Fantasy Sports on occasion.
I enjoy loose-leaf tea, beef jerky, any kind of apple dessert, and a variety of sweets and junk food.
I'll stop there for now and save some for future posts. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and learning how Steemit works.
