Hebrews 4:1-2 and 11:6 underscore the crucial need of faith for a successful and rewarding walk with God. That is why the Trinity Season Agenda to date, has been focusing mainly on the growth and development of our faith. Two dimensions are identifiable in this regard:
Growth & development of personal faith in the Person of Jesus Christ (Mk. 4:40-41, 5:27-30, 35-39)
Growing in “The Faith” handed over to us (1 Cor.15:1-4, Jude v.3).
Faith growth and development must be on course if we can successfully respond to the call to Missions as happened in the case of the disciples in today’s Gospel.
It is significant to note from the Gospel also that Jesus’ own home town Nazareth, failed to experience a due portion of the breakthrough, change and development He was carrying because of their lack of faith (Mk.6:1-6) – a case of “familiarity breeds contempt.” Certain atmospheres will retard or inhibit the blessing He seeks to pour out. We need to be mindful of the atmosphere we create around us in Church and outside Church.
As we seek for the miraculous breakthrough in our personal lives, Church, community and nation, let us take seriously the Trinity School of Faith – making sure to grab all the lessons taught each week. If we can listen and hear The Word and keep it, reflecting thereon and meditating therein, the atmosphere of faith shall develop, His Spirit will usher us into the arena of the faith walk and the glory of our God shall arise upon us, leaving in its trail miraculous breakthroughs and development in all dimensions of our lives. May His Spirit help us and His grace be sufficient. Amen.
