One of the hallmark of a good artist is the willingness to experiment with different material and methods. That is how we improve. I gave it a thought and here we have a full blown tutorial on the use of the fish brush.
First you draw a shape of a fish on the canvas on an empty photoshop canvas.
We then register the shape of the fish as a brush. The method of doing it is to proceed to edit and click to define brush present and rename the brush. Then press ok to save the brush.
Adjust the setting on the brush tool. You can use the setting that I have preset according to the given image and on the shape dynamics and transfer.
Click on scattering and increase it to 304% to get the distance of the position of the brush. This technique is important to obtain the position of the leaf and the texture randomly.
Before starting on the painting I will try to create a tree by using the texture brush. You can see the brush on the leave to create the shape of a tree.
On the surface of the tree you can use this texture. You can also see the use of the brush here and it will help shorten the length.
This is the part of the front leaf. We use the same technique just that the colours in the front we try to make the colour brighter.
Now we try to work on the bigger size picture. We can start by forming the sky and the hills. The location of the trees that are far we can use this brush with a low colour contrast.
This brush is use as a ground texture. You can see how I render of the stones in the stream by using this brush.
You can now detail each part of the side stream by following the right style in using the brush.
The entire of the foreground I will darken it by using the blue colour as though I am in a cloudy place to get a good contrast between a middle ground and foreground to make sure the visuals are more strikinig.
Now we can include a character. This technique is suitable for the creation of background animation especially for 2d because it helps to shorten the process. Happy trying and till we meet again.
