Steemwars day 3: Home | The beauty of art and how it fits in with every day life.

Our tiny village is connected to the neighbouring village by a safe footpath that is separated from the road. It was a wonderful project that has allowed the children to be able to walk or cycle safely to school. It's also a fantastic route for a run coming in at a 3 mile round trip.

But it is also a beautiful route because not only did the pathway group make sure the path happened they also commissioned some works of art and seating to be spread down the length of the path.

Art is a fantastic way to left the spirits and so without further delay, may I present some of the local art that I get to enjoy every day.

This solid wood carved crouching hare is well hidden now by the wild flowers that grow along the pathway, it is roughly knee height on an adult though and can be sat on.

Sculpture of a traditional horse drawn farm wagon. By tradition these would usually be painted orange to represent the county of Lincolnshire. The Lincoln imp is traditionally red and we are know as Lincolnshire yellow bellies so I can only imagine the reasoning for painting the wagons orange was because that is what you got mixing red and yellow.

There are two owls on the pathway, they signify the two ends of the route. This one sits within our village his brother is a mile and a half away from him in front of the park in the next village.

Metal sculpture of village life, the woman on the bicycle is actually our regular postie. The rest of the sculpture is a farmer and a cow. This photo was taken when the art was first installed, now the metal is well weathered and has blended into the scenery along the pathway.
