Emmanuel - God with Us (Bible Study on the many Names and Titles of God)

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

This may be the second time I covered this Name but I felt the need to talk about this again.

Emmanuel

Some remove the miracle of this great truth and sterilize it by making it look like Isaiah is prophesying over his own son. But Isaiah never had a son born of a Virgin. This verse is obviously speaking of the birth of Christ. It is speaking of a miracle. We all know that there is nothing unique about a Virgin having a child. This happens every single day!

The wonder and miracle, the sign spoken of is about a mother that has a child and she remained a Virgin even after conception. A Virgin gets pregnant and knows no man sexually.

This man child we be called Immanuel meaning God with us.

Mat 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Mat 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
Mat 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Jesus is God and has always been God

There is always false teachers about teaching that Jesus was not God. They are convincing and it requires discernment and wisdom to keep from being deceived from their own error. These that believe their own deception are the most difficult to discern as they truly believe the lie and be come very convincing in their error.

Scriptures

The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son. (John 1:14)

The Father and I are one. (John 10:30)

“I am telling you the truth,” Jesus replied. “Before Abraham was born, ‘I Am’.” (John 8:58)

Is it easier to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’? I will prove to you, then, that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home!” While they all watched, the man got up, picked up his mat, and hurried away. They were all completely amazed and praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” (Mark 2:9-12)

Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!” (John 20:28-29)

Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Peace be with you.” They came up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. (Matthew 28:9)

That grace instructs us to give up ungodly living and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this world, as we wait for the blessed Day we hope for, when the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ will appear. (Titus 2:12-13)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Rev 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
