Standing Up for Our Rights

I just now had to stand up for our rights to stand on a public sidewalk outside of a business.

A security guard walked up to me and told me I couldn't stand where I stood because of bla, bla, bla.

I told him to bugger off. "I'm watching the fight whether you like it or not. I'm well within the rights as a pedestrian on public sidewalk to stand in this spot and watch."

He basically told me they (the new security guard who joined him) didn't give a fuck and continued to demand that I move.

Me: "Nope! I'm staying right here next to this tree."

Them: "You're loitering," he says.

Me: "Get away from me," I demand.

When I pulled out my camera to protect myself and began recording, the security guard (who is not allowed to by law to touch people or their property unless they are defending themselves from an attack) snatched my phone from my hand and told me I wasn't allowed to film him.

Excuse me! I was a street performer in three states. Taking videos and photos of people on the street is acceptable and there isn't nothing you can do about until "you" change that law. I've had law suits in two of those states where in the ruling was in the pedestrian's favor so I know by first hand experience what I can do on a public sidewalk.

I yelled out, making sure I am heard for blocks around, demanding my property back.

Eventually the head manager of security comes out and spoke with me. He knew I could stand where I was and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it under the law - (he knows the law because he use to be a cop who worked up the ranks [seems to be a decent guy, too]).

I, every time I have this stupid argument with some stupid know-it-cop/security guard, let them know of this case --> https://aclu-wa.org/cases/berger-v-seattle-0. This case opened up the streets to pedestrians, performers and others thereafter.

With my Qigong and Taijiquan training, I notice my breathing didn't get out of hand. I did shake a little at one time but I was able to breathe!, which helps one think straight. I was able to remain calm when I spoke with the head manager of the security guards.

I love what Qigong and Taijiquan training allows me to do for myself.
