He had earlier on January 27, 2016 been engaged with a deal to move to Lorient in a deal that would keep him their till 2020 after they had agreed to an undisclosed fee but due to a delayed transfer saga, which had been called off on two different occasions, Sunderland’s boss, Les Melus threatened the Lorient side with legal action and this caused him to pull out of the deal. It therefore led Kone to stay back at the club and now, he has finalized a move to RC Strasbourg according to the official statement made by the club on their website yesterday.
Throughout his stay at Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, he made a total of 69 appearances and scored three goals.
