Thibaut Courtois's agent asked Chelsea to accept the Real Madrid offer immediately. Because Courtois had wanted to move there.
Throughout the summer transfer market, Courtois continues to be linked with Madrid. The 26-year-old goalkeeper reportedly wants to reunite with his family who live in Madrid.
Madrid is said to have submitted a bid of 30 million pounds to Chelsea to release Courtois, whose contract is left for another year. But, until now the West London camp is still adamant in holding Courtois.
Chelsea did not want to release Courtois before getting his replacement goalkeeper. With the Premier League transfer market closed on 9 August, certainty about Courtois status must be determined.
Therefore the Courtois also asked Chelsea to soften and accept the Madrid offer considering the player had been desperate to move.
"I have often read that Chelsea said it was up to Thibaut, but he clearly said that the best option for him was to move to Madrid," Courtois agent Christophe Henrotay told Sky Sports.
"This is an important decision for him because he wants to be close to his family, and there is an offer that must be accepted by Chelsea at this time," he continued.
"We have heard that this move is due to money and it is true that he can get more money if he moves:"
"But he has also refused a bigger offer elsewhere because this is more than a matter of money."
"It's more about humanity when someone wants to be closer to their children - that makes sense too."
"Chelsea will get the right price for it and can find a replacement. Or they want to find a replacement next summer, and lose Thibaut for free."
