Karius was heavily criticized for his lackluster performance in Kiev where Liverpool lost 3-1 to the Blancos due to two very regrettable errors by the German keeper.

However, tests carried out recently on Karius at the Massachusetts General Hospital revealed that at the time, the goalie was suffering from a head injury.

A statement issued recently made it known that the keeper underwent a comprehensive examination on May 31, 2018 by Dr. Ross Zafonte and Dr. Lenore Herget at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.

Continuing, the statement noted that after a careful review of the recordings from the game, as well as integrating a detailed history, plus physical examinations and metrics based on objectivity, they (the doctors) have come to a conclusion that the player ended up with a concussion on May 26, 2018 during the match.
