Tennis is such a unique game that consists of different sections that builds up a successful tennis player. It involves the technique, strategy, the right mentality of the game and the physical fitness.

The basic rules of Tennis

There are two broad games that can be played basing on the players' choice that is either the singles or the doubles game. The singles game involves two people one playing on one side of the court and the other on the other side of the court and these are termed as opponents just playing or competing with each other. The doubles game involves 4players who are teamed up in groups of two against two.

During the singles game one has to serve the ball diagonally from the baseline between the service center line and the side line either through an underserve or overserve where the ball has to drop in the service box diagonally to the opponent's side. Alternation has to go on that is from right to left after every point. Serving is done interchangebly after every game played in other words each player has a turn of serving after every game.

In a doubles game, each player has a turn of serve where there is also switching from one player to another. The one receiving the serve is termed as the receiver.

There is only a one bounce reservation allowed before a player hits the ball back to the opponent's side. However a player can decide to hit the ball even before it bounces that is termed as a volley.

The scoring system of the game.

They are 3 or 5 sets that consititutes a match where a choice has to be made on whether to play a best of 3 or 5 set match. A set constitutes of 6games which has to be won on a two games mergin. A best of 3 set match implifies that when some one wins 2 straight sets he or she merges a winner of the match and for the best of 5 set match implifies that the winner of the 3sets is the winner of that match.

A game consists of 4points counting like 15-love.. 30.. 40 then the fourth point is a game. If players scores' tie up to like 40-40 it is termed as a deuce. Winning the game has to be on a point margin of two for every game. When its deuce and one player gets a point it is termed as an advantage and then if that same player who is having an advantage gets another point then its a game done.

The tie break scoring system.

A tie break is played when there is a 6-6 tie amongst the players during their normal game play. Other wise the players can also decide to play a longer set until there is one with a 2games difference.

A Tie break set comprises of 7 points that have to be won on a 2point difference. One player makes his first turn of serve from the left hand side of the tennis court thereafter each player has 2turns of serves that is serving from left and the right hand side of the service line.

As a beginner it is important to know the dimensions of the tennis court. A tennis court has a net that separates the court into two equal sides. A well stretched net is slightly lower in the centre normally by 10centmeters if measured well. The line at the extreme opposite side of the net is termed as the baseline which also consititutes the service centre line where one serves the ball from.

The lines that are both at the extreme right and left of the court are called the doubles lines and those just before them are termed as the singles lines.

The 4squared lines in the middle of the court are called service boxes. In a game situation, this is where the served ball has to drop first before playing the ball on any other desired area on the court. The service centre is one that separates the court into halves. These are very key during the doubles match where players stand in the different halves using them as their initial positions of play.
