Watching the NBA season this year cheering one of the teams I like thats the Cleveland Cavaliers has not been easy. I thought with the additions of guys like D.Wade, Green and Crowder the team would be better defensively. The guys cannot seem to be able both physically and mentally to defend a simple pick and roll play. Teams like the Brooklyn nets and Indiana Pacers could manage to score over 110 points this season against the CAVS.
I think this is a good thing they are losing early in this season as compared to last year when Kyrie and Bron Bron would just go brilliant and out score a team though being extremely poor on defense. With the CAVS knowing they "suck" this early I hope its a good wake up call rather than last year when they woke up in the finals against the Warriors and realized they cannot play D.
I tend to wonder what the CAVS coaching staff were thinking last year when almost every team would manage to score 110 points against a contending team with 3 all stars and not too bad role players. I like that they are losing early and will work to make crucial adjustments before the play-offs. At this point we cannot be even talking of a trade because the pieces are already available to the CAVS for them to be a super-team.
And No, Isaiah Thomas is not the solution because he will just help to out-score teams just like Kyrie did and we would again wake up in the finals and realize we still cannot play D. Or maybe we should sack coach Lue and get a proper coach who is going to help these guys play D. I am happy they have noticed it early this time around though.
