Edson Borboza -VS- Kevin Lee post fight review

Last nights five round main event was quite enjoyable for the hardcore fans, but seemed less enjoyable for the casuals as boos rang out in the stadium during Kevin Lees grinding ground onslaught.

As many of you know Edson Borboza is one of the most feared strikers in all of Mixed Martial Arts, so Lee's game-plan was the correct one, as much as the fans disliked it. Lee did show he could stand and hang with Edson for a little while, but most of the damage he inflicted was from the ground as he landed huge elbows and strikes over and over again, completely smothering Borboza right from the get go.

As you can see from the stats Lee dominated the fight on the ground for most of the fight, and even won a few striking exchanges on the feet, although he faced adversity in the third round when Borboza landed a huge head kick severely rocking Lee and sending him into a chicken dance, although Lee's true skill showed as he managed to secure the double leg and take Edson down, giving him time to recover, compose himself and get back to work.

Lee continued to grind all the way to the fifth round and eventually the the doctor stepped in and stopped the fight due to the severe damage Edson received, referee Keith Peterson awarded Lee the TKO victory.

I actually really enjoyed the fight and thought Lee showed some excellent skills, he's going to be a future contender for sure, but I'm not sure he's ready for the big three just yet, he's only 25 and has all the time in the world, I think if he has maybe one or two more fights he will be a lot more prepared for the elite of the elite.

Here is the rest of the cards results last night, it was a fun card and delivered for sure.
