Pickelball is a sport that has become more and more popular today, and for good reason. The game is something between tennis and racket ball with a fast-paced and enjoyable cadence.
Pickelball was founded in 1965 in Washington state, and has exploded in popularity since a league was implemented in 2019. The professional circuit establishment has enabled the popularity of this sport to skyrocket, and new players can easily pick up the game with minimal investment.
The sport can be played inside or outside, and many recreational facilities have created pickelball courts. The pickelball court is noticeably smaller than a tennis court, and the whiffle ball used makes a pop sound when struck. Players use paddles similar to table tennis paddles during play, and the action is similar to tennis.
I played pickelball recently, and had a blast. The game is fast-paced, and the rules are simple enough to pick up. The ball pops as it moves across your racket, and like tennis this game is great for your health and especially cardio. I recommend it for fun and health, and would invest into a racket and some whiffle balls if you're serious. Have fun!
