Premier League August Review

The start to the Premier League campaign was an interesting one. Chelsea the defending champions lost 3-2 to Burnley and Manchester United crushed West Ham 4-0. It wasn't surprising to see Arsenal, Man City, and Tottenham all being victorious. It was however, supposing to see Liverpool draw with Watford at three goals a piece.

The next week was just as exciting as Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-1 just after a shock defeat. Everton also took it to Manchester City and forced a draw. Manchester United yet again won 4-0 over Swansea and Stoke City pulled a shock victory over Arsenal, 1-0. New boys Huddersfield picked up their second win in a row against fellow promoted side Newcastle, which was their second loss in a row. Lastly West Ham came back from two goals down against Southampton only to lose to a late penalty.

In the final game week of the month Manchester United won their third straight game against Leicester City and Man City scored a late winner in a 2-1 win against Bournemouth. Liverpool demolished Arsenal 4-0, while Chelsea took care of Everton. Burnley earned a draw from Tottenham to bring their total to four points thanks to last seasons top two teams. Yet again West Ham lost, this time against Newcastle by 3-0.

Sadio Mane won player of the month with three goals and three games, while David Wagner won manger of the month due to achieving seven points with newly promoted side Huddersfield.
