COUTINHO ‘VERY CALM’

Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho is not letting mounting speculation over his future distract him from his international duties, insists Brazil goalkeeping coach Claudio Taffarel.

"I am seeing him (in) great serenity," former World Cup winner Taffarel told SporTV. "He is very calm, very calm.

"The player is accustomed, in this period, to live in this type of situation. I also experienced that.

"Each (player) has an entrepreneur, a person who takes care of the business. He's in here, totally back, with his head in the games. I've seen him training very well."

PREMIER LEAGUE LOANS

Should this become a Deadline Day talking point, here’s the rule…

These are officially called temporary transfers. Under Premier League rules, there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs. They are:

Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time;
The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time;
Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window;
A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club;
With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas (international loans are governed by FIFA under separate regulations)

All eyes are on Alexis Sanchez, Philippe Coutinho, Virgil van Dijk, Diego Costa and plenty of others heading into the final day of the window - but what about some of the lesser known elements of last-minute deals?

THE BIG PLAYERS

Alexis Sanchez: Arsenal have rejected one bid of £50m from Manchester City. Sanchez is due to play in a World Cup qualifier 30 minutes after the window closes. So how is his state of mind?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: A fee that could rise to £40m was agreed yesterday - and people close to the deal are telling us he had a medical at St George's Park last night. So we could get developments on that any time now.

Philippe Coutinho: He's still keen on joining Barcelona, who haven't come back YET since a fourth bid of £138m was rejected. This one could drag on as Spain's window closes tomorrow.

Virgil Van Dijk: Plenty of clubs are linked with him - including Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Diego Costa: He's determined to leave Chelsea - in fact he still hasn't returned to the club from Brazil - and is desperate to join Atletico Madrid. Will a deal be done today?

Jonny Evans: Manchester City, Leicester and Arsenal are all possible destinations for him.
