Winter Sports legend
Here comes the second edition of famous German athletes. The first one was a male football player from Munich. In our second edition we introduce a young lady (just 30 years old) that already retired.
Magdalena Neuner is the most successful woman of all time at Biathlon World Championships and a two-time Olympic gold medalist - and she is Bavarian!

Biathlon is very popular in Germany. The combination of cross-country skiing and shooting is very interesting. I watch as many races as possible during the Winter Time. Magdalena is a special person. Being that successful is one thing but her attitude and presence in the public is outstanding. She always had a smile straight after a tough race - a perfect figurehead for Sports in Germany. I have been sad when she decided to retire in March 2012, citing a lack of motivation and her desire for a normal life. But we had to accept it, she then became married and is a proud mom of two in the meantime!
