The NY Mets' season is unraveling fast

The Mets just completed their series in Philadelphia with another awful loss to the Phillies.

After a dramatic comeback in the top of the 9th, led by a homerun by Todd Frazier, the game fell apart as Edwin Diaz was unable to hold the lead. Up by two ending the bottom of the frame, Diaz gave up 5 runs in 1/3 of an inning.

This ruined a terrific start turned in by Zack Wheeler who went 6 innings, only giving up a HR to Bryce Harper.

The loss puts the 11 games behind the Atlanta Braves after 82 games.

For a season that was entered with high hopes, the season is quickly unraveling. The GM felt so confident in his team that he told the rest of the NL East to "come get us". The way the Mets are playing shows they were not hard to find.

The biggest culprit is the bull pen. Diaz was part of the blockbuster deal that saw the Mets also get Robinson Cano. That deal is looking worse by the day. Not only had Diaz been bad the last two months, Cano is vastly under performing his career numbers. Owed $120 million going into this season, this is not what the Mets expected.

It is a little over a month to the trade deadline and it is looking like the Mets are going to have to be sellers again. Frazier, Wheeler, Vargas, and, perhaps, Ramos all could be candidates to be moved at the deadline.

2019 is another disappointing season for Met fans.
