John Terry to Aston Villa a good shout?

After a month of speculation and a round of golf, John Terry has been confirmed as an Aston Villa player on a 1 year contract.

At 36 years old JT became a free agent at the end of June and had several options for the next step in his career. Has he chosen wisely? If Aston Villa achieve promotion to the premier league Terry will net a massive £4 million, this would however, pale in comparison to the money he could have achieved plying his trade in China or in the MLS, for example, fellow Chelsea legend Frank Lampard earn close to £8 million in his year with New York City as well as the experience of another league and increasing his stock in the American world of sport and sponsorships.

One would assume Terry's contract at Aston Villa will involve some degree of coaching and attaining his coaching badges however, like Lampard who played for Manchester City, I would what impact playing for another English club, all being it a Championship close would have on his Chelsea legacy, being a one club man to this point.

With regards China, no English player has made the journey East and so perhaps this is an opportunity missed to lead the charge of English players over to China?

Let me know your thoughts on this move, there will be many more transfer news and gossip to come.

Many thanks,
Phil
