Super Rugby Round 6 – Preview and Tips

Another cracker round of Super Rugby coming your way this week guys, with some key games and interesting match ups, the highlight being the all kiwi affair between the Hurricanes and Highlanders which promises to be a free flowing attacking game. I am going to go through all the games and give you a preview and hopefully tip a few winners for the week.

CRUSADERS v BULLS in Christchurch, Friday 5.35pm AEDT

Crusaders have lost two in a row which doesn’t sit well with the Canterbury faithful and the coach has acted accordingly swinging the axe and bringing in 5 new players for their vital game at home against the Bulls. I see the Crusaders bouncing back and having a pretty easy win against a pretty underwhelming Bulls team in this one.

REBELS v SHARKS in Melbourne, Friday 7.45pm AEDT

The Rebels bubble burst somewhat last week with a heavy loss to the Tahs in the Australian Derby, they will be smarting from that and looking to get back on track against the Sharks at home in Melbourne. The draw has been very friendly to the Rebels early in the season with only 1 away game so they need to stack up the competition points now before things harden. I expect them to win this one in what will be a high scoring encounter.

SUNWOLVES v CHIEFS in Tokyo, Saturday 3.15pm AEDT

The Sunwolves have been a real surpsise packet this year, it may not show it in the wins column but they have been more then competitive in most games. I still think the Chiefs even though it is in Japan will have too much fire power for the Wolves, expect them to win in what will be a high scorer, if you are looking at the line for points I would go over 50 in this one.

HURRICANES v HIGHLANDERS in Wellington, Saturday 5.35pm AEDT

This is undoubtedly the blockbuster of the round with this all kiwi fixture certain to provide a high quality spectacle for lovers of Rugby. As is generally the case I am leaning towards the Hurricanes in this one on the strength of the home ground advantage, I think it will be tight and look once again for plenty of points to be scored.

STORMERS v REDS in Cape Town, Sunday 2.15am AEDT

Can the Reds continue their surprise form and win 4 in a row that’s the biggest question out of this game. All there victories have been hard fought and based on gritty defense and a great set piece. I don’t see that being enough away from home against the Stormers in this one however, im tipping Stormers by 10 points +.

JAGUARES v LIONS in Buenos Aires, Sunday 6.40am AEDT

The Jaguares have been pretty disappointing this year in my view, they aren’t gelling which is a huge surprise considering its basically the Argentinian National team. The Lions will like their chances in this one away from home and after what I saw last week from the Jags my money is on the Lions.

Tips:

Crusaders
Rebels
Chiefs
Hurricanes
Stormers
Lions
